Job Description SummaryThis job is responsible for investigating, negotiating, and settling moderately complex claims involving the contents of a homeowner loss such as a fire, water, or theft. The individual handles claims that typically require alternative housing during the restoration of the property. The individual handles claims virtually by leveraging technology tools and virtual resources to conduct a thorough analysis and evaluates damages, determines loss coverage, and authorizes payments

Work Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM4:45 PM CT to include rotating weekend coverage every 68 weeks; potential mandatory CAT/Large Claim event
Location: Fully Remote
This role is responsible for, but not limited to, investigating, negotiating, and settling moderately complex to highly complex property claims involving contents, structure-related exposures, and Additional Living Expense (ALE). Claims often involve high-severity losses, including catastrophe events, total losses, and attorney-represented files.
The individual handles claims virtually using advanced technology tools to evaluate damages, interpret policy coverage, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver timely, accurate claim resolution.
A Day in the Life of a CAT Inside Complex Adjuster
Handles, but not limited to, escalated, high-severity and complex claims involving contents, structure-related exposures, attorney-represented files, engineering components, and Additional Living Expense (ALE) damages, often tied to catastrophe or total loss events
Conduct thorough coverage investigations to ensure accurate policy application, including state-specific and non-standard coverages
Collaborate virtually with field adjusters, mitigation vendors, and external partners using advanced video and digital tools
Review documentation such as engineering reports and estimates to support claim evaluation and resolution
Provide empathetic, customer-focused communication throughout the claims lifecycle, especially during high-impact loss situations
Negotiate settlements in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with structure adjusters and cross-functional teams for comprehensive claim handling
Use data and analytics to support decision-making and drive claim outcomes
This role involves supporting customers during critical moments. Flexibility to work weekends and extended hours during catastrophe events is required.
Youre a Great Match for This Role If You:
Have a High School Diploma/GED (Bachelors degree preferred)
Bring 5+ years of property insurance claims handling experience
Possess 2+ years of experience handling fire, water, and theft claims, including contents and Additional Living Expense (ALE)
Demonstrate strong knowledge of multiple coverages, including dwelling, contents, ALE, and state-specific or less common coverages
Have experience handling complex, high-severity losses, such as catastrophe events, total losses, or large structural damage claims
Are highly skilled in analyzing policy language, interpreting coverage, and applying it accurately across varying state regulations and compliance requirements
Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to evolving regulatory environments, particularly during catastrophe situations where guidelines may change
Exhibit strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess damages, evaluate data, and make sound claim decisions
Show technical proficiency in claims handling, including estimating, supplements, and use of tools such as Xactimate (or similar platforms)
Provide exceptional customer service, with strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when handling sensitive or complex claims
Have experience supporting or handling:
Field/large loss claims with strong structural exposure
Attorney-represented or public adjuster-represented claims
Mitigation vendors, including coordination and understanding their role in the claim process
Are comfortable managing claims end-to-end, including writing estimates, managing supplements, and finalizing settlements
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are adaptable, organized, and detail-oriented
Can work independently while collaborating effectively in a virtual environment
Have bilingual skills and/or prior military experience (a plus)

Training:
All licensing costs covered.
One month of fully paid training plus up to an additional month of on-the-job training.

Notice of Licensing Requirement:
As a condition of employment, your office/area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license which includes passing an additional background check with the Department of Labor. If applicable, you will be required to secure license(s) within 60 days of hire.
Technology & Internet Requirements
50 MBPS download and 5 MBPS upload. In addition, wired internet connections are recommended for optimal experience and may be required for certain customer-facing roles.
